Rainy weather struck Southern California yesterday and decided to hang around for a while. For most parts of the country this doesn’t seem exceptional. You’d have to live in So Cal to understand. It just doesn’t rain here in August. Doesn’t happen. Nope. You can count on that as much as you can count on an In-n-Out Burger. Until yesterday.
Rain spattered down and everyone ducked for cover. People didn’t go out and they didn’t interact. That strikes me so odd. What does a little weather have to do with anything? Grab an umbrella, dash out and embrace the world, right? Funny, that’s how I feel when things aren’t going smoothly in life, too. You cannot sit there, stuffing your head between your hands bemoaning things going on. You’ve got to snap to, take charge and do the best you can to right the wrong and hang on until the sun shines again.
Now, believe me, I know it’s not always that easy. I’ve been there. Done that. Cry and let the anger and hurt out. Stomp your feet and smash your fist into a pillow if you must. Just don’t take it out on the rest of the universe. There are people out there who want to help you. Show your tearstained face and let them hold you up.
Life isn’t fair. Sometimes it seems harder than we can bear. If you need help call a friend. Let someone know. I’m here. I’ll listen. I know others will, too.
